Tarot

2017-2018

Tarot is a traditional tool for divination and reflection, where one lays cards in a spread to meditate on an issue, ask advice, or try to tell the future. The "classic" deck that most people know of and use is the Rider-Waite-Smith (RWS) deck. It's over 100 years old, and it shows. Since there are so many factors that go into a tarot reading, I want to update and distill the imagery that I've seen in the RWS deck and its variants. This deck primarily uses color theory and a clean, minimalist aesthetic to represent the meanings of each card. Like most traditional Tarot decks, it contains 78 cards: 22 Major Arcana (which are significant energies or “trump cards”) and 56 Minor Arcana (containing 4 suits of 10 numbered cards and 4 court cards).
